SETON CATHOLIC CENTRAL TO HOST AUTHOR BRIAN KEENE
(Binghamton, NY) Brian Keene prolific writer of novels, comic books and short fiction will be visiting Seton Catholic Central’s Creative Writing classes on Friday, September 23. He will visit classes from 9:05 a.m. – 9:50 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.
Keene has authored forty books primarily in the horror, crime, and dark fantasy genres. Literary commentators credit his 2003 novel The Rising with helping to generate pop culture’s current interest in zombies.
“Brian Keene’s visit offers our students a unique opportunity to learn from a cutting-edge author who continues to make his mark on the literary landscape,” said Kevin Lucia, Seton English teacher.
Keene has also written scripts for Doctor Who, The X-Files, Hellboy, Masters of the Universe, and Superman.
Brian Keene’s work has received acclaim from a cross-section of the media including; The New York Times, The History Channel, The Howard Stern Show, CNN.com, Publisher’s Weekly, Media Bistro, Fangoria Magazine, and Rue Morgue Magazine.
He has won numerous awards and honors, including the 2014 World Horror Grandmaster Award, 2001 Bram Stoker Award for Nonfiction, 2003 Bram Stoker Award for First Novel, 2004 Shocker Award for Book of the Year, and Honors from United States Army International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan and Whiteman A.F.B. (home of the B-2 Stealth Bomber) 509th Logistics Fuels Flight.
